Raman PR-1w

PR-1w Palmtop Raman Spectrometer

The PR-1w Palmtop Raman spectrometer is a handheld Raman spectrometer that contains a 785 nm laser, spectrometer, and detector in a compact housing. Compared to micro-Raman instruments, the PR-1w is a user-friendly Raman spectrometer that everyone can use immediately after delivery. Measurements can be performed in a few steps without the need to set detailed parameter settings. It can be installed in a variety of locations, and various measurement layouts, such as in-line and in-situ measurement, can be obtained. With a rich lineup of optional analysis tools, you can freely perform not only measurement, but also various types of analyses.

The PR-1w has wide spectral range 200 – 3000 cm-1 with 3 cm-1 per pixel resolution that can be used for non-destructive analysis of solids, powders and liquids, including the contents of transparent bags, vials and cuvettes for qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Simple design and operation

Connect to a PC, start the software and press the probe against the sample – acquisition starts immediately from the measurement button; there is no need for detailed settings, such as optical axis adjustment or focus adjustment.

Most handheld Raman systems typically can only measure down to around 400 cm-1, but the PR-1w Raman spectrometer can measure closer to the Rayleigh scatter down to 200 cm-1. This makes it possible to measure inorganic substances with peaks in the low wavenumber region.

Adjustable focal distance

The focal position can be easily adjusted to change the measurement position from the surface to inside of the sample.

Compact form-factor with sophisticated optics

The PR-1w is a fixed range Palmtop Raman spectrometer with a 785 nm laser and a non-cooled CMOS detector built into a compact housing.

Parameters: Laser Power

The Palmtop Raman spectrometer (PR-1w) contains a 785 nm laser that has three different power settings: Low/Medium/High (5 mW/25 mW/50 mW, respectively). The Raman signal (I) is directly proportional to the power of the laser (mW). As a result, the Raman signal will increase when a higher laser power is selected; however, increasing the laser power can potentially burn your sample. If you are concerned with damaging your sample, start with the laser at low power and slowly increase the laser power until you have a good Raman signal with no sample degradation.

Parameters: Exposure and Accumulation

Raman spectrometers enable the control of data acquisition by adjusting the exposure time and the number of accumulations that are averaged together for a final spectrum. If a sample has weak Raman scattering, increasing the exposure time will result in a better Raman signal. Increasing the number of accumulations will increase the measurement time but also improve the S/N ratio.

Real time data processing

The Spectra Measurement program of the Palmtop Raman Spectrometer allows data processing simultaneously Baseline distortion, Correction of detector sensitivity, Noise reduction and Fluorescence Correction.

Wavenumber correction

Wavenumber correction is available by using the standard polystyrene sample.

Spectral search

Wiley KnowItAll® is available as option, and the database libraries including 25,000 Raman spectra is also available as option.

Vial holder (PR-1-V)

Used with 2 mL vials, liquid and powder samples can easily be measured. For safety, a light-shielding cover is closed during measurement so that the laser beam cannot be seen.

Cuvette holder (PR-1-C)

The PR-1-C is used for liquid samples in 10 x 10 mm cuvettes.

ATR measurement unit (PR-1-ATR)

The PR-1-ATR attaches the PR-1w Raman spectrometer to an ATR PRO ONE X, PRO 4X or PRO ONE. This mount switches between FTIR and Raman measurements, allowing combined analysis without moving the sample.

Z-stage mount with sample plates (PR-1-Z)

The convenient Z-height adjustable unit can be used for the measurement of a variety of samples: powders, liquids and films.

Optional lenses (PR-1-OL9/OL15/OL22)

Optional lenses with longer working distances can be used for measurements from 9 mm to 22 mm.

Protective sample chamber (PR-1-DS)

The PR-1-DS has excellent light-shielding properties for highly reproducible measurements. Two different sample holders are available: liquid/powder and an ATR prism holder.
